What is the AI Writing & Digital Literacy Fellows program?
The AI Writing and Digital Literacy Fellows program is a year-long professional development opportunity focused on supporting writing faculty across the California public higher education landscape. The program is developed in partnership between UC Irvine, Cal State Fullerton, and the North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD).
Fellows participate in a faculty learning community (FLC) and learn about best practices for integrating GenAI into the classroom to support student learning. Fellows also gain access to training, mentorship, and a generative AI-based tool, PapyrusAI, to help build students' writing skills and critical AI literacy while protecting student privacy and teacher agency. This work is supported by a Learning Lab AI Grand Challenge grant.
