Want to learn about generative AI?

Explore our introductory curriculum below.

UNDERSTAND: How LLMs work
Learning Objective: Students will understand the basics of how generative AI works.

No previous information is needed to implement this material.

These materials provide students with a basic background on generative AI prior to using AI.
Access the lesson here.
UNDERSTAND: LLMs’ inherent limitations and biases
Learning Objective: Students will understand the AI’s strengths, weaknesses, biases, and legal issues. This set of materials focuses on LLMs' inherent limitations and biases.

No previous information is needed to implement this material.

These materials will help students understand the limitations and biases of LLMs and provide background information prior to use of AI in their course.
Access the lesson here.

Prompt Generation
Learning Objective: Students will learn how to prompt generative AI tools effectively.  Students will be aware of the importance of both background content knowledge and prompting-specific knowledge in creating effective prompts.

Students should have reviewed the foundational curriculum on the general background of information on generative AI (UNDERSTAND: How LLMs work) and the limitations and biases of generative AI (UNDERSTAND: LLMs' inherent limitations and biases).

These materials will help you understand how to prompt generative AI tools effectively, including the importance of both background content knowledge and prompting-specific knowledge in creating effective prompts.
Access the lesson here.

Iterative Prompting
Learning Objective: Students will be able to interrogate generative AI  to effectively refine generated output to meet their goals.

Students should have reviewed the foundational curriculum on the general background of information on generative AI (UNDERSTAND: How LLMs work) and the limitations and biases of generative AI (UNDERSTAND: LLMs' inherent limitations and biases).

These materials provide students with sentence starters to help them iteratively prompt,  interrogate, and engage with generative AI output.

Access the lesson here.
UNDERSTANd: Environmental Impact
Learning Objective: Students will understand the current science and discussions about the impact of generative AI on the environment. Students will explore resources and be in a position to take an informed position on the topic.

Students should have reviewed the foundational curriculum on the general background of information on generative AI (UNDERSTAND: How LLMs work) and the limitations and biases of generative AI (UNDERSTAND: LLMs' inherent limitations and biases).

These materials help students explore the impact of generative AI on the environment.
